INTERNATIONAL centre Mark Percival scored on his return to action in Saints’ win over Huddersfield Giants.

He came off after 50 or so minutes, but that was always the plan.

And coach Kristian Woolf was happy with the way Percival’s evening went.

Woolf said: “Mark Percival is 100 per cent fine. We came into the game with a plan that he was going to play 50-55 minutes.

“Obviously, he is coming back from a small injury, but we wanted to make sure we were not creating a bigger problem because of his history.

“The advice we were given was that if he played 55-60 minutes this week, then we can certainly look at building on that in the coming weeks and get him back playing him the full 80 and that is the best way to bring him back.

“That was the plan before the game – he is fine and ready to go next week.”

Percival gave a strong performance – with the try the icing on the cake, particularly the way he hit the line like a bullet.

And that delighted the coach.

“We are very much a better team with Mark Percival in the side.

“The way he carries, and you saw his class with the way he found space just before half time.

“We have to remember he has only played three games of footy since the start of last year.

“He is only going to get better with every performance and will get a lot of confidence out of that performance, coming through it really well,” Woolf said.
