St Helen man stabbed by thugs who stole his electric scooter

Michael William, from Eccleston, was the victim of a robbery in Liverpool on Wednesday (April 14), which took place near to Liverpool Royal Hospital Road.

The 32-year-old was with his friend Charlie Cheetham when the robbers struck at around 11.30am, he says.

Michael man was on Erskine Street at the junction with Epworth Street when he was approached by two men, one aged around 18 and the other around 40.

Michael says he was stabbed in an arm during the attack.

He said: "Me and my mate took a day trip from St Helens to Liverpool while it was a nice day.

"We thought we'd have a change of scenery and a mooch round.

"Then some lad, who looked about 18, grabbed my scooter round the handlebars and I snatched it back and then another man, who was about 40, has come to the side of me and stabbed me with what I think was a knife.

"The lads ran off and I tried to chase them, I can't afford to replace the scooter.

"I'm gutted about that but the man could have killed me and my arm is in agony.

"My friend got punched as well."

Michael was taken to hospital and later discharged and has reported the incident to the police.

He described the 18-year-old as having quite long hair to the back of his neck and the older man as bald.

Michael added: "I would warn people to look out, they may do it again."

Detectives are appealing for information following the robbery.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the location and circumstances, officers say.

Detective Inspector Amy Smith said: "Our enquiries are ongoing and we would like to speak to anyone in the area who saw the incident or may have been passing and captured anything on CCTV or dashcam. We're determined to establish exactly what happened and find those responsible."
