NEWTON-LE-WILLOWS has been named as the second hottest property seller's market by online property portal, Rightmove.

After Newquay took the top spot, it is Newton-Le-Willows that takes second place, where the property selling and renting site states that just under 82 per cent of listed properties are sold, subject to contract.

With it's busy high street, independent shops, eateries and pubs, and excellent transport links it is clear why the area made the top list.

Newton-le-Willows councillor Seve Gomez-Aspron said: “Those of us who live here know how fantastic Newton-le-Willows is.

"Mainly down to our great parks, excellent schools, bustling High Streets, dedicated independent businesses and amazing volunteer and community groups. Our transport links are second to none and our new train station and train services put most of the UK in a couple of hours reach.

"So the fact people want to be here isn’t a surprise, so the Rightmove study is great news!

"It highlights that we need also to support younger generations to access their first home, by creating more affordable housing, social rent and a mix of housing sizes to make sure younger generations aren’t priced out of the market.

"But other than that, NLW is the place to be.”

One such business which is thriving in Newton-le-Willows is wine bar The Riddling Rack.

Co-owner of the business Alex Myhill added: "It doesn't shock me that Newton-le-Willows has got people wanting to move here.

"We’ve got a fantastic, vibrant High street in Newton-Le-Willows with new business popping up all the time and renovation work to many of the hospitality venues.

"There is no doubt that this is adding to the kerb appeal of the area as people seek to keep things local coming out of lockdown, it’s been brilliant welding all of our customers back in the last week”

Birmingham city centre is the worst place for sellers. Only 18 per cent of properties sold so far this year.
