MANY pubs and hospitality venues reopened their outdoor areas in St Helens as the coronavirus lockdown was eased on Monday (April 12).

"What a brilliant first day we had here at The Oak Tree. The sun was shining, the beers were flowing and everyone had a brilliant time. It was amazing to see so many of our customers after such a long closure.

"For anyone with bookings today, remember it is freezing outside, so dress warm, put the layers on and if you can, bring a blanket.

"We’re looking forward to seeing you all again later and our phone line will be staffed from 12pm."

Boars Head

Landlord Mark Hayes said to the Star: “The weather’s joined us as well so it’s even better.

“Obviously it’s been hard times for everybody and with the world we’re in today unfortunately we’re having to go through what we’re having to go through.

“But it’s great to be back open, not just us but St Helens and fair play to everybody and I hope they have a good day, as good as us with the weather.”
