A SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy who threw a rock at an off-licence window and made demands for the shopkeeper to open the till has appeared in court.

The teenager, charged with attempted robbery and criminal damage, following the incident at Nutgrove Minimart on the night of Thursday, March 18 appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court.

At around 9.30pm on Thursday, March 18, a report was received of a boy entering the shop on Nutgrove Road and allegedly making demands that the shopkeeper opened the till.

A rock was also reportedly thrown, causing damage to the shop window.

No injuries were caused and no items were stolen and the suspect made off, say police.

Following enquiries, a 17-year-old boy was arrested by officers and later charged.

The boy, from Thatto Heath, pleaded guilty to attempted robbery, criminal damage and to an assault.

The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

The teenager was remanded to youth detention accommodation until Tuesday, April 13.
