THE cause of dead fish floating in white stained waters in a park is still being investigated by the Environment Agency.
Last Wednesday, March 31, residents in Newton-le-Willows took to social media to share their distress at the white waters and dead fish in areas such as Willow Park
This was immediately looked into by The Environment Agency, which is still investigating the cause.
An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “We responded to reports of a serious fish kill at Newton Lake, Newton-le-Willows.
"Our officers have been on site investigating the cause, alongside St Helens Borough Council, and took action to avoid any further fish deaths.
“Investigations are currently ongoing into this incident and as such we are unable to comment further at this time.
“Protecting people and the environment is our number one priority and we are committed to taking action against those who cause environmental harm.
