GRASSROOTS sporting activity is back following the first stage of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions being eased.

And there have been smiling faces across the town as people of all ages have been returning to training and in some cases matches too.

More lockdown restrictions will ease on Monday, which includes gyms being able to reopen.

Sticking with junior rugby league, below are some of Pilkington Recs under 12s' players back in training at Ruskin Drive! "They all absolutely loved it," said a spokesman for the team.

These next pictures, by MKS Photography, are from Windle's first match back in action in the Cheshire Football League at the weekend.

They were defeated 3-2 at Denton on this occasion, but came back from 3-1 behind at half-time to win 6-4 at Moore United on Tuesday and can look forward to hosting Newton Athletic on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Leanne Belshaw is delighted to report the return of her Buggy Beat class with Fitness Beyond the Bump in Eccleston.

"I have been running classes for postpartum mums online throughout the pandemic," she said.

"However it was amazing to be back outdoors doing workouts."

Leanne explained more.

"A lot of the mums in classes became parents at the start of lockdown and they have been unable to meet others and share their experiences with new mums so it was fantastic to see all the mums and babies together," she said.

"Many of the babies have never seen another baby in person, too, as well as a lot of mums now suffer with anxiety caused my the lockdown so the classes are really beneficial for them.

"Buggy Beat is an outdoor cross-training workout for mum and baby with no need for childcare.

"Buggy Beat is not just about fitting in those pre-pregnancy clothes but has so many benefits including stress relief, increased energy, improved mood, improved fitness, improved sleep which can help to reduce postpartum depression.

"Sessions are held on Tuesdays at 10am at Taylor Park, Wednesdays at 1pm at Ecclesfield and Thursdays at 10.30am at Ecclesfield."
