A MAN remains in hospital in a serious condition after being hit by a car following an 'altercation' on a street.

Emergency services were called to Rodney Street, St Helens, off Cambridge Road on Thursday, April 1, following reports a man had been hit by a car following an incident with another man at around 6am.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries. He remains in a serious condition.

A 39-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and drug driving and has been conditionally bailed to April 27 pending further enquiries.
