POLICE are hunting for a man who attempted to lure a mum and her young son into his car.

A woman was walking with her young son on Chamberlain Street, West Park on Thursday evening when a man driving a dark blue Ford Galaxy mounted the kerb to speak to them.

He reportedly tried to lure them to go inside the vehicle.

Police are investigating after receiving a report of the incident.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that officers are investigating following suspicious circumstances in St Helens last Thursday, April 1.

"Around 7.30pm, we received a report of a woman walking with her young son on Chamberlain Street earlier on (around 5pm) when a man driving a dark blue Ford Galaxy mounted the kerb ahead of them and spoke to them, in an apparent attempt to lure them into the vehicle. He then drove off.

"The man was described as white, in his 40s, with mousey brown hair and a stocky build. Enquiries are ongoing.
