A PUB which has undergone a major refurbishment under lockdown and a change of management is to reopen its outside areas on April 12.

The Talbot Alehouse on Duke Street, St Helens has been known as a popular real ale pub in the town for a number of years.

The pub has seen a change in management, with Matthew Rick and partner Chloe taking the reins.

The venue has seen a full refurbishment inside and out and is set to reopen on April 12, should the lockdown exit roadmap proceed as scheduled.

The pub is looking to retain its place as a popular real ale pub and will be selling three real ales when it opens, and is hoping this will go up to seven.

The Talbot will also be offering a wide range of other beers, ciders, wines and spirits including cocktails.

The venue is looking to make the most of its refurbished beer garden and will be hosting live music events starting the first weekend they are open.

Management have shared some photographs of the pub which were taken in progress during renovations (there have been some changes since they were taken).

They will also be running a quiz night from the beer garden and ensuring all COVID safe precautions and regulations are followed.

From April 12 it is planned that the beer garden will be open from 11am to 11pm each day.

Ian Pye, pubs officer for St Helens and Districts CAMRA, said: "It's great to see the Talbot Alehouse continuing to be one of the real ale venues within the town, especially as its change in management has happened in such difficult times for the pub trade.

"As restrictions are eased I would ask those that feel safe and able to do so to get out and support our pubs.

"They need our help now more than ever to ensure that they survive and continue to be at the heart of the communities they serve."
