FOR beautician Danielle Price the past 12 months has been a challenging time with all of the coronavirus restrictions in place.

However, the mum-of-two from Newton-le-Willows has been given a massive boost after she was shortlisted for Nail Technician of the Year at the 2021 Hair and Beauty Awards.

Self-employed Danielle, 32, admits that the past 12 months have been somewhat of a "nightmare" with all the social distancing measures and other restrictions which have hindered the industry.

So the nomination could not have been more timely for her.

"I had to get in touch with them and had to fill in an application form and send evidence of my work," said Danielle.

"I have been working in the industry for 16 years, it is a lifelong passion, I love it.

"It is a real boost, it's something to look forward to in the industry, because it has been such a tough time."

Danielle, who is married to husband Shaun and has two children, Tilly, seven and Teddy, eleven months, says to be shortlisted in and of itself is a massive honour.

"I have no expectation to win because the other technicians are amazing, but just to be shortlisted is amazing," she added.

"It will be a 'webinar' ceremony. Normally it would be a big suited and booted and black gown sort of affair."

The awards will take place later this month digitally.
