BURGLARS forced their way into a post office during the night and stole alcohol among other items as well as causing damage to the shop.

The break-in took place at the Rainford Junction Post Office on Kendal Drive in the early hours of Tuesday, March 9.

Three burglars broke into the premises at around 3am, police say.

A quantity of alcohol and other items were taken with the interior of the shop damaged.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said: "We are investigating following a burglary at a post office in Rainford in the early hours of Tuesday, March 9.

"At around 3am three offenders forced their way into the shop attached to the post office, on Kendal Drive, and stole a quantity of alcohol and other items.

"Damage was also caused to the interior of the shop.

"An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic enquiries have been carried out."
