MORE than 40 jobs could be created as Lidl asks the public on their views on a new store in Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The company is holding a public consultation online for the community to participate in and the multi-million pound investment, will see a 1,230m² sales area, with plans to create around 40 new full time and part time jobs.

The supermarket will boast state of the art facilities including an instore bakery, customer toilets and 80 car parking spaces including 5 dedicated disabled spaces, 6 parent and child spaces, and 2 electric vehicle charging spaces.

During the outline of the plans for the new store, the public are invited to comment on the proposals via a dedicated website and through a leaflet which is being delivered to properties in the area.

Following the success of the newly opened store in Parr Bridge, Wigan earlier this year the new supermarket forms part of the company’s £1.3bn investment plans across Great Britain in 2021 and 2022. Its ongoing success shows no signs of slowing, with the latest Kantar Worldpanel results highlighting Lidl’s increase in sales year on year and market share of 5.7%.
