Working with Rightmove, we can reveal the Cumbrian villages have seen the biggest increase in  buyer searches over the last year.

Here are five villages in Cumbria that have seen the biggest rise in interest over the last year:

Dent

According to Rightmove’s data, this South Lakeland village is the most sought after location to move to right now.

Apparently, everyone wants to buy a house here as buyer searches in the area increased by 89 per cent in the last 12 months.

The charming village is south of Sedbergh and the cobbled streets and whitewashed cottages make it look historic.

Visitors should take a trip to The Dent Brewery and enjoy a pint of Dent Bitter.

It also developed an infamous reputation as a knitting village- the 'terrible' knitters of Dent’  gained their reputation because they knitted so fast and furiously.

The knitters supplied jerkins, pullovers, caps, socks and gloves to the soldiers.

The average house price in Dent right now is £105,000.

Armathwaite

This village is situated in the Eden district and there is plenty to do and see here.

Take a trip to Armathwaite Castle or try your hand at kayaking on the Eden River.

Coniston

One of the most notable features of this village is The Old Man of Coniston, a landmark fell in the area.

It’s the ideal place for walkers and climbers as there are many amazing things to see and places to explore.

Arthur Ransome based his childrens’ books, Swallows and Amazon, around Coniston Water.

Newby Bridge

This Newby Bridge hamlet is in the South Lakeland District.

It was once part of Lancashire and got its name from the five-arched stone bridge built across the river in 1651.

Newby bridge is home to Fell Foot Park and Finsthwaite Tower, which you can explore if you ever decide to invest in property here.

Pooley Bridge

This village is in the Eden district of Cumbria, at the head of Ullswater.

It’s home to some fantastic hiking trails, such as those on the Hallin Fell.

Pooley Bridge is also home to a lot of historic buildings, such as Dalemain Mansion.
