A man has died after his car hit a tree late on Sunday evening.
Police were called at around 10.15pm on Sunday after receiving reports that a car had smashed into a tree on the A6.
The Toyota C-HR crashed close to the junction with Waitholme Lane at Carnforth.
The driver, a 58-year-old man from Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at around 10.15pm last night (Sunday, February 28th) to the report of a collision on the A6 at Carnforth.
"The Toyota C-HR is believed to have collided with a tree near to the junction with Waitholme Lane.
"The driver, a 58-year-old man from Lancaster, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"His family have been informed.
"An investigation into the cause of the collision is underway."
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 quoting incident reference 1659 of February 28.
