BACK-to-back champions Saints now know who, when and where they will play in the 2021 Betfred Super League campaign.
After teasing supporters with the two openers, followed by Magic and then the Rivals weekend – the full fixtures have now been announced.
Eager eyes will scan the fixtures, looking for the games which come as restrictions ease.
Saints’ first game after May 17 – the earliest date at which fans could be allowed – is away at Catalans.
Saints’ eagerly awaited first clash with Wigan is pencilled in for the Sunday/Monday of July 4/5 which comes just days after – almost Easter style – a clash at Castleford slotted in on the 1/2 July.
The opening weeks of Saints’ programme can best be described as a series on potential banana skins.
The planners have kept Saints apart from the big crowd-pulling rivals until the restrictions ease – but they will not be taking the teams in rounds one to six lightly.
Huddersfield – now coached by Ian Watson – could prove a tough nut to crack on their own John Smiths patch.
The fixture intensity will go up a notch in May and June with a run of Catalans, Hull, Leeds and Warrington.
Saints’ away date at Warrington is slotted in for August Bank Holiday – which may bring back happy memories of that same fixture on the same date 25 years previously when they sealed the first ever Super League.
The Super League season is 25 matches long – with Saints’ extra loop fixtures being against Salford and Hull KR, plus Magic opponents Catalans Dragons.
