CENSUS day is on Sunday, March 21 this year, and households across the borough are required by law to take part.

The national census takes place every 10 years and helps the Government to get a clearer picture of the services required across England and Wales.

Local authorities and organisations then use the information provided to appropriately plan provisions, including transport, healthcare and education.

Every householder is responsible for registering everyone living at that address. They can either fill out individual questions for each member of the house, or direct other members to complete their own.

Anyone who doesn’t complete the census could be fined up to £1,000.

Residents across St Helens will receive an invitation pack in the post with more information on how to fill out the census online.

Alternatively, you can still request a paper census to be posted to your address.
