CHARITIES and organisations are being asked to apply to be part of Jack's Support Scheme for a chance of a free cash donation.

Jack’s Supermarket, on Four Acre Lane, is accepting applications until Sunday, February 28, so any charities that would like to be included in the next round of the scheme need to apply now.

Four successful organisations will each receive £500 to help them through this tough time.

Usually, the four nominees would each get £250, and voting units would be placed in store where shoppers could nominate one charity to receive an extra £250.

However, the funding has been increased to offer more support to local charities whose usual fundraising efforts may have been impacted by the pandemic.

Following the last round of the scheme, Jack’s donated £400 to each charity that had applied as a way of supporting them after a very difficult year. This included 68 community groups in total, which is worth over £27,000 in donations!

James Deakin, Store Manager at Jack’s St Helens, said: “We launched Jack’s Supports to give something back to the local communities that have supported us since our launch. As charity fundraising has been massively affected by the current situation, we were delighted that our last round of the Jack’s Supports scheme enabled us to offer support to more organisations than ever before.

“There are so many wonderful charities and organisations in St Helens that we would love to support, which is why we’re urging people to come forward and apply before the deadline to be in with a chance of receiving this cash donation.”

Debra Hill from Olcotwish CIC received a £400 cash donation in December and said: “Café Laziz is a community café for recently settled refugees and asylum seekers to work, train and integrate within the local community. Thank you for the funding Jack’s, with this we can continue our hard work.”

To nominate a worthy cause, go to jackssupports.org.uk and complete an application form by Sunday, February 28.
