A 21-YEAR-OLD man who was put behind bars for vehicle theft offences has been recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions.

John Corrigan (pictured) was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison last November after he was convicted for two thefts.

One took place in Sutton Leach in October, during which a BMW was interfered with. Meanwhile, in Earlestown in July Corrigan had stolen a wallet from an Audi.

Corrigan had been given an extended sentence in November as those offences had been committed while he was on licence.

A Merseyside Police spokesman confirmed that Corrigan had been recalled to prison on Friday, February 12 after having been released on licence.

He said: "Corrigan was arrested on Friday, February 12 in the St Helens area and recalled to prison for breaching his licence conditions."

After Corrigan's initial sentencing in November, Community Policing Sergeant Kath Rackham said: “This is good news for those victims targeted by Corrigan, and we’ll continue to take positive and prompt action on all similar reports.

“Residents who are targeted in theft suffer stress, upset and inconvenience so keep passing on information and we will do the rest. If you see or capture on CCTV or dashcam anyone acting suspiciously close to vehicles where you are, let us know.

“There are also some good tips on our force website to ensure your vehicle isn’t an easy target. Always lock your doors as opportunists will try door handles of cars and homes. Fit a dashcam, alarm and good in-car security locks.”
