MD Creatives creative director Miguel Doforo has been appointed as director of iconic radio station KCC Live.

Miguel has been involved with the Knowsley-based community station since 2017, and his work will involve sharing good news stories, recruiting talented DJs and presenters to showcase their talents on the airwaves and playing the biggest and best songs to put smiles on faces across the area.

Bolstering the ranks already by bringing well-known presenter Claire Simmo, hot-prospect DJ Erik McKenna and station manager Dan Sellman through the doors, KCC Live will now be looking to go from strength to strength as they plan towards their 20th anniversary in 2023.

Miguel Doforo, creative director and founder of MD Creatives, said: “To become station director of a radio station I’ve been involved with for many years is an incredibly proud moment for me and I have so many huge ideas to take KCC Live to the next level in 2021 and beyond.

“First and foremost I will be continuing to grow the station in the Liverpool City Region, as we strive to give local creatives the chance to gain experience and learn on a massive platform.”

Building on their strong performances in 2020, the St-Helens based company has also launched a new online platform, allowing their creative students the chance to flourish and learn from the comfort and safety of their own homes.

Geared for the fast pace of media and performance production skills, MD Creatives programme will be accessible for their cohort via www.mdcreatives.co.uk, and will be packed full of high-quality and engaging content, virtual talks and online sessions in a range of subjects including art, media, photography and PR; which will allow them to fully prepare for life after the pandemic.

With face-to-face learning set to resume in April for MD Creatives, the next three months of online activity will also focus on working towards the company's famous end of academic year production, which this year is set to be held at the 700-capacity Theatre Royal.

Miguel Doforo, added: “Now more than ever, we need to stay connected, stay creative and most importantly stay safe! When we made the decision to take our learning online until April, it was crucial that we created an online platform that our creatives could utilise 24-7 and use to evolve, grow and learn further, which I believe we’ve certainly done.

“It’s extremely important that our creatives feel like they are still connected to us despite the current ‘stay at home’ guidance and with online learning, visual calls and engaging sessions in place, we feel like our cohort will be in the perfect position after the Easter holidays, when we return to classroom learning; as well as focusing our full attention on our live performances, which we have dearly missed over the last 12 months.”
