THREE men were issued with COVID-19 notices after coming together to fish inside a tent at Sutton Mill Dam.

At around 8.20pm on Sunday, January 16, officers sighted three men inside a small fishing tent at Sutton Mill Dam.

The men, aged 23, 23 and 22, were all issued with COVID-19 breaches for participating in a gathering.

One of the 23-year-old men was issued with a community resolution for possession of cannabis.

Officers were also patrolling areas including Sutton Park at the weekend, to respond to reports of anti-social behaviour and potential

St Helens Community Policing Sergeant Kath Rackham said: "Gathering in groups outside of your household or support bubble during this time brings unnecessary risks to those we need to be protecting, including NHS and all vulnerable in our communities.

"Frustration though it may be, we can't emphasise enough how important it is to stay at home unless you have a valid reason to leave such as daily exercise, work that cannot be done at home or essential shopping only.

"We'll continue to respond to all reports and information to keep our communities safe. The next few weeks will be hard for all of us, but the more people follow the guidance, the quicker things will improve for everyone and the sooner we will get back to some form of normality."
