FOUR people from different households travelled from St Helens to Bamford in the same car on Saturday to 'look at the snow'.

After a lockdown-breaking journey of more than 50 miles, the driver lost control of the car and it rolled on its side.  It is understood that no serious injuries were sustained.

But the unfortunate situation got worse for the sight-seers when they had a hard time explaining the trip to police and were all handed fines for not keeping to the Covid rules.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary's High Peak Response tweeted: "Four people travelled more than 50 miles from St Helens to Bamford, to 'look at the snow', but resulted in rolling their car on its side.

"The four vehicle occupants were from different households. Is this essential? No!

"All were issued with Covid 19 tickets.”
