BARLA have today paid tribute to Blackbrook's former Great Britain under 23 international Jordan Welsby, who sadly died on 31 December following a road accident.

A statement sends condolences to Jordan’s parents Nicky and Tony, his brother Callum, girlfriend Laura, his family and friends.

And that was extended to all those at Blackbrook and within the amateur game who played with and against him who knew him.

Steve Manning, BARLA Vice Chair, said: “On behalf of BARLA I would like to would like to pass on their condolences at this sad time to Jordan’s parents Nicky and Tony his brother Callum, girlfriend Laura, his family and friends.

"Also to all those at his club and all those within the amateur game who played with and against him who knew him. BARLA’s thoughts are with them all at this sad time.

“Jordan began playing rugby league career at Pilkington Recs before moving on to Blackbrook. He stayed there until moving to Portico Panthers and winning the BARLA National Cup before returning to the Blackbrook.

“Playing for their Under 18 side he made his first team debut at that age and went on to represent in county Lancashire before achieving the ultimate honour of representing his country with the BARLA Great Britain Lions Under 23’s when they toured Jamaica in 2016.

“He will be missed by all which is shown from all the messages and tributes within press and social media and BARLA echo those thoughts and thanks his family assistance in putting this release together."
