IN THE DOCK: 5 recent cases heard at magistrates' court

- A MAN will face a Crown Court trial after denying possession of a lock knife.

Darren Jones, of Holt Avenue, Billinge, pleaded not guilty to having a lock knife in his possession on Washway Lane, Haresfinch on February 23.

The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court where Jones, 41, will next appear. He was granted unconditional bail.

- A MAN who denied a charge of ABH over an alleged assault will appear for a magistrates' court trial in the new year.

Ryan Paul Waring, 24, denied a charge of causing ABH and assault by beating.

Waring is accused of carrying out the alleged assaults on a woman on October 3 and 4.

He has been given conditional bail until the scheduled trial date of January 20.

- A MAN who drove with ketamine in his blood has been disqualified for three years.

Daniel Ryan, of Norton Grove, Thatto Heath, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta on Wedgewood Gardens, Rainhill with ketamine in his system, exceeding the legal limit.

Ryan, 21, was also fined £300, made to pay a £34 surcharge and £85 in costs to the CPS.

- A MAN accused of assaulting a woman last New Years' Eve will face a magistrates' court trial.

John Brogan, of Longton Lane, Rainhill, is charged with an assault on a woman on December 31, 2019.

Brogan, 56, pleaded not guilty and was given unconditional bail and will next appear for trial at Sefton Magistrates' Court on May 21, 2021.

- A MAN who drove with a metabolite of cocaine in his system has been fined.

Jamie Wood, of Ellen Street, Sutton, pleaded guilty to driving with benzoylecgonine in his system on March 24.

He drove on Swan Avenue, Derbyshire Hill with the drug in his system.

Wood, 31, was fined £120, made to pay a £32 surcharge and £85 in costs to the CPS.

He was also fined £60 for wilfully obstructing a police officer on the same date.

Wood was banned from driving for 12 months.
