POLICE have given an update on their investigation after an officer was allegedly attacked after he tried to stop a drink driving suspect from swallowing drugs.
Officers stopped a car being driven by a man on Lickers Lane, Whiston on Saturday, November 28.
He was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drink.

As police searched the suspect resulted, a number of wraps of cocaine were reportedly found.
During the incident, a police officer was allegedly assaulted by the man as the officer tried to prevent him from swallowing drugs.
The man was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, obstructing police and possession of a controlled Class A drug.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said the man has been released under investigation.
