A THIEF who stole more than £1,000 of goods during a crime spree has been spared jail.

Daniel Wojtyniak pinched £1,057.75 of underwear, clothing and perfumes from Debenhams in Golden Square Shopping Centre in March this year.

On the same day, he took another £329 of clothes and handbags from the nearby TK Maxx store.

When he was detained, the 33-year-old was found in possession of a quantity of cannabis and amphetamines.

Wojtyniak, of Wilderspool Causeway, admitted two counts of theft and two of possession of class B drug.

The Polish national was handed a 16-week imprisonment, suspended for 18 months, at Warrington Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 25.

He was also given an 18-month supervision and a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement, as well as being told to pay £85 in court costs and a £122 victim surcharge.

Magistrates ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
