HERE are details of five cases recently heard at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

- A MAN who admitted to assaulting a woman was fined.

John Oliver, of North Road, St Helens pleaded guilty to an assault at an address in Parr on September 30.

Oliver, 38, was fined £80, must pay a £34 surcharge and £85 in CPS costs, making a total of £199.

- A MAN who denied assaulting a woman and two counts of criminal damage will face trial.

Andrew Benyon, of Birchfield Street, Thatto Heath pleaded not guilty to assault and two criminal damage charges.

Benyon, 37, is accused of assault by beating of a woman and damaging a television to the value of £450 and an i-Phone to the value of £375 belonging to the woman at an address in Haydock.

He was given conditional bail and will appear back for trial on March 15, 2021.

- A MAN who drove a car in Rainford with a metabolite of cocaine in his system has been fined.

Stephen Squire, of Tanhouse, Skelmersdale drove on Blindfoot Road with benzoylecgonine in his system on October 22, 2019.

He was fined £120 and made to pay a £32 surcharge and £85 in CPS costs.

Squire, 50, was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

- A MAN who assaulted a woman and damaged a mobile phone belonging to her must do unpaid work.

Michael Shaw, of Greenwell Road, Haydock committed the offences on July 19, pleading guilty in court.

Shaw, 32, was given a community order and must do up to 18 days rehabilitation activity, 100 hours of unpaid work over 12 months and a Building Better Relationships programme.

He was ordered to pay two sums in compensation of £300 each and a £95 victim surcharge, making a total of £695.

- A MAN who drove a lorry while disqualified has been jailed.

John Connolly, of Thomas Drive, Prescot was given a 12-week jail term after pleading guilty.

According to a court sheet Connolly, 28, drove a large goods vehicle or passenger carrying vehicle on Pottery Close in Whiston on November 13 while disqualified from holding a licence.

He also drove without insurance.

He was given the jail sentence as his offence was aggravated by his previous record of offending.

Connolly, 28, must also pay a £128 surcharge.
