A NUMBER of local schools have been shortlisted in the Educate Awards 2020.

Due to pandemic, the ceremony has been postponed until further notice but the team behind the event are keen to continue and raise spirts within in the education sector.

Despite the difficult times, a record amount of schools and colleges from around the region entered one or more of the 21 categories.

From inspiring teachers, dedicated support staff to innovative projects across the curriculum, the awards recognises the work of schools and colleges which are delivering outstanding education and helping students achieve their full potential, even during these unprecedented times.

Among the schools and teachers shortlisted are:

- Parish Church Primary School - shortlisted for the Innovative and Creative Literacy Award and in the Leadership Team of the Year category.

- Teacher Mark Hardy has also been shortlisted for the Teacher of the Year Award

- Father Harry has been shortlisted for School Governor of the Year Award

- Queen’s Park Primary School has been shortlisted for the Most Inspirational Alternative Provision by a School Award

- Wargrave House School and College in Newton-le-Willows is shortlisted for the SEND Provision award

- Rainford High has been shortlisted for the Innovative and Creative Literacy Award and senior learning assistant

- Helen Greenway has been shortlisted for the School Support Star of the Year Award

- Rainhill High School has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Secondary School category

- St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School has been shortlisted for The Communication Award and in the Outstanding Commitment to the Environment category

- Billinge St Aidan's CE Primary School has ben shortlisted Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Primary School category

- Newton-le-Willows' Hope Academy Outstanding Commitment to Sport in Secondary School category

The awards, in partnership with Copyrite Systems and Ricoh, are in their ninth year and the event is the largest education awards in the North West.

Since launching in Liverpool in 2012, the awards has grown rapidly, recognising schools and colleges right across the Liverpool City Region, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.
