READERS have been paying tribute to "a lovely woman" who died of stab wounds in Prescot.

Paula Leather, 56, from Prescot, died at a property on Tinling Close in the early hours of Monday, November 16.

Emergency services were called at about 1.20am on Monday and Mrs Leather's death was confirmed at 1.40am.

Her family is being supported by specialist officers, a police spokesperson added.

Police said a Home Office post mortem has determined the cause of death as stab wounds to the face and neck.

Husband George Leather, 60, of Tinling Close, Prescot was arrested at the scene and was charged with the murder of Paula.

He appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court this morning, Wednesday, November 18.

Leather was remanded back into custody and will appear for another hearing at Liverpool Crown Court this Friday (November 20).
