POLICE have released the four suspects they arrested after a disturbance broke out which saw a man hospitalised on bail.

Officers attended Pride Close, Newton-le-Willows on Monday afternoon (November 16) at around 5.10pm after reports of "a disturbance" in the area.

A 29-year-old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries after the incident, police say.

Four men were arrested in connection with the disturbance.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and of a public order offence and a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and a public order offence.

Meanwhile, 59-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.

A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said the four suspects who were arrested have been released on bail.

After the arrests a force spokeswoman said: "We were called to Pride Close in Newton-le-Willows at 5.10pm yesterday, Monday, November 16, to reports of a disturbance.

"A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 47 assault and public order; a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft and public order and a 59-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were was arrested (on suspicion of a) public order.

"A 29 year-old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries."
