A CAR was smashed into and a handbag and purse were stolen from inside at a park.
Police received a report of a black Suzuki Swift having been broken into at Taylor Park near the Holme Road entrance.
A handbag and a Mulberry purse were snatched in the theft between 3.15pm and 4.15pm on Tuesday, October 20. The items have since been found dumped in a bin at Tesco in Prescot.
Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who saw suspicion behaviour to come forward.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm a report was received that a handbag and a Mulberry purse were stolen from a car in Taylor Park, St Helens on Tuesday, October 20.
"It was reported just after 4.20pm that a window of a black Suzuki Swift car had been smashed and the items taken from inside sometime between 3.45pm and 4.15pm that day.
