CHARLIE Munro has been backed to keep improving after being rewarded for an excellent start to his Warrington Town career.

After several impressive displays since joining in the summer, the midfielder has been put on a contract at Cantilever Park until the end of the season.

As well as being a show of how highly Yellows rate Munro, the contract also entitles them to a fee should any club attempt to prise the 24-year-old away.

Charlie Munro signs his contract with Warrington Town in the presence of chairman Toby Macormac

Before this season, Munro had been playing for Ashton Athletic in the North West Counties League – two divisions below Yellows – but has taken to the new level like a duck to water.

He has started every game for Yellows this season and shone in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Nantwich Town, setting up a goal for Jack Dunn with a superb pass.

“I think he will only get better,” Yellows boss Paul Carden said.

“His touch, awareness and ability to create time for himself is something you can’t coach. It’s a natural ability.

“He knows where to be when the ball comes into him in terms of positional play. His first touch is a pass to himself so the next pass he makes has set himself up for quality.

“He’s deserved it as he’s come in from a few leagues below.

“It took him a bit of time to get involved with the group, but the lads think he’s top drawer.

“On Tuesday he was up against Casper Hughes, who is one of the best midfielders in our league in terms of passing, but I think Charlie stood out over him.”
