CHILDREN from Ellesmere Primary School have been showing their sporty side and raising money for two good causes.

On Friday, October 19, pupils from all years engaged in the school's sports fundraiser, to raise money for Cancer Research UK and the playground fund.

Pupils took part in various activities, including Beat the Goalie and Tin Can Alley, with the events organised by children from Year 6.

The children were able to raise nearly £500 and a spokesman for the school congratulated them on their efforts.

"These amazing children have raised nearly £500 for Cancer Research and the PTA by organising a socially distanced Sports Fundraiser," they said. "They were determined that current restrictions weren't going to stop them helping others, and so they came up with a way of running the activities in a Covid-safe way.

"Parents and friends donated online, and the girls even put together prizes for a lucky participant from each class.

"It was so good to get the whole school working towards a shared goal."
