HERE are five cases which have been recently heard at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

- A TWENTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD man accused of dealing cannabis and having cash as criminal property will face a Crown Court.

James Malcolm Beirne, of Lewis Street, St Helens is charged with possession of cannabis on Birchley Road, Billinge on December 16 last year.

He is also charged with possession of the Class B drug with intent to supply on Legh Road, Haydock on the same date and of acquiring, using or having criminal property, namely £940.

The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court where Beirne will next appear on October 23. He was given unconditional bail until then.

- A FORTY-ONE-YEAR-OLD man has pleaded not guilty to causing criminal damage.

Andrew Woodward, of Crossley Road, Thatto Heath, is charged with damaging four tyres of a Vauxhall Nirvana on Austin Avenue on January 5.

He pleaded guilty and the case was adjourned until January 19, 2021 when Woodward is next due to appear at Sefton Magistrates' Court.

- A MAN accused of assaulting a woman has pleaded not guilty to ABH.

Adrian John Boulton, of School Street, Newton-le-Willows, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a woman.

He is alleged to have assaulted the woman on October 2 in Newton-le-Willows.

Boulton, 43, pleaded not guilty. He will face a summary trial at the court on January 25, 2021 and has been given conditional bail with a curfew until then.

- A MAN has denied assaulting a woman and stealing cash from her.

Liam Andrew Coatsworth, of Phoenix Brow, St Helens is charged with assault by beating of a woman in Haydock on October 2.

He is also charged with stealing £70 in cash, belonging to the woman, on the same date.

Coatsworth, 27, has been given conditional bail until his next scheduled court appearance on January 26, 2021 when he will appear for trial.

- A MAN who approached a woman while prohibited from doing so by a restraining order has been jailed.

Ben Joseph Hoofe, of School Way, Pemberton, Wigan approached a 31-year-old woman at Fosters Park on Railway Street, St Helens on October 2.

Hoofe, 33, was banned from doing so by a restraining order which had been imposed in March 2019.

He was sentenced to eight weeks in prison. A court sheet said this was because the offence was "aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending".

Hoofe was also made to pay a £128 surcharge to victim services.
