RESIDENTS from across Warrington have noticed that their postcode is displayed as ‘very high risk’ on the NHS coronavirus app this morning, Thursday.
This relates to the Government’s new three-tier system of controls for England, which was announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the House of Commons on Monday.

At present, Warrington as a whole is a ‘tier two’ borough, which means that there is a high coronavirus risk and that some local lockdown restrictions are in place.
But residents in WA2, WA4 and WA5 postcodes have reported logging on to the NHS Covid-19 app and seeing that their area is now ‘tier three’ – very high risk.
The reason for this is because areas in those postcodes – Winwick, Hermitage Green, Cuerdley Cross, Lingley Green, Burtonwood and Collins Green – border localities within the Liverpool City region, which is under tier three restrictions.
Allaying residents’ fears, Warrington Borough Council has said: “The NHS Test and Trace app currently shows for some users in Warrington that they are in a ‘very high risk’ area.
⚠️The NHS Test & Trace app shows some areas of Warrington that border Merseyside, such as WA2, WA4 & WA5, are in a "very high" risk area.

“This applies to some people from postcodes including WA2, WA4 and WA5.
“The current status of the entire borough of Warrington is that the town is a ‘high risk’ area, and not a ‘very high risk’ area.
“Warrington postcodes bordering Merseyside and Halton, but which share postcode areas, may show a ‘very high risk’ level.”
