THE founders of Widnes Baby Loss Awareness Group say they are ‘absolutely heartbroken’ after discovering that their recently decorated bandstand has been vandalised.
The group exist to break the taboo of speaking about the loss of children and babies and to provide support to people in the area.
Members have been busy in Victoria Park of late decorating the bandstand with lights and ribbons to honour Baby Loss Awareness Week, which runs from October 9-5 each year.
But the were devastated to find that their display has been wrecked by people ripping lights from the railings.
In a Facebook post, the group said: “We are absolutely heartbroken to do this post, but unfortunately one of our group founders has discovered our baby loss awareness lights only fitted yesterday have been vandalised.
“It is so disappointing when clearly something for such a personal cause has been vandalised by persons in our local community.
“We imagine there will be someone who reads this post unfortunately, with a family member possibly who has been involved in this.
“Vandalism is never a condoned act, but when it is of something supporting a both a wide and local community it is even more wrong.”
