FOUR people have pleaded not guilty to murder over the death of a dad-of-one.

Warren Glover suffered a serious head injury during an assault on French Street at the junction with Thompson Street in Toll Bar on Saturday, June 13.

The 33-year-old, who was from Prescot, died three weeks later on Tuesday, July 7.

On Tuesday, four people charged with murder in connection with Mr Glover’s death appeared for a plea hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.

Melissa Stubbs, 28; Aaron Stubbs, 30, both of Lane End Road, Burnage, Manchester; Peter Walker, 30, of Garth Road, Wythenshawe, Manchester and Stephen Strutt, 39, of Chester Avenue, Stalybridge, Manchester all pleaded not guilty to murder.

Meanwhile, Sarah Clark, 30, of Chester Avenue, Stalybridge, had pleaded not guilty to assisting an offender at an earlier hearing.

The four defendants charged with murder were remanded in custody ahead of a trial scheduled for the new year.

Meanwhile, Clark has been granted bail.

A family tribute to Mr Glover after his death described the 33-year-old as a “genuinely kind-hearted and caring dad”.

It said: "He was a genuinely kind-hearted and caring dad who adored his family and friends.

"He was much loved and loyal; his fun, genuine and empathetic character will be sorely missed by all who knew him especially his mum.

The trial date for the case has been set for January 4.
