A number of GP surgeries in Barrow are trialling a new way of providing flu vaccinations this year.

Flu clinics under Abbey Road Surgery, Atkinson Health Centre Practise, Liverpool House Surgery, Norwood Medical Centre and Risedale Surgery will be held differently this year to allow for better social distancing.

The flu vaccinations will be given in a drive-thru style setting on Phoenix Road, Barrow.

A letter will be sent to those who are due to receive their flu vaccination. The letter will contain a barcode which must be taken to the drive-thru site – staff will not be able to vaccinate people who do not bring this letter.

Those going for their vaccination must wear a face covering.

Users of the site should come at their allotted time to prevent a back-up of traffic.

At the moment the vaccinations are only for the over 65s or under 65s with certain health conditions. More information is available by calling your GP surgery.
