A NUMBER of stolen scooters were set on fire at a park in Whiston, say police.

Officers on patrol at Stadt Moers Park discovered the scooters, which had been set alight, on Thursday, September 24.

Police appealed to the public to report cases of stolen motorbikes and anti-social use of vehicles.

In a statement, Knowsley Police said: "Officers patrolling the area of Stadt Moers Park yesterday (Thursday) located a number of stolen scooters which have unfortunately been set on fire.

"Officers regularly spend time responding to reports of stolen motorbikes which include those being stored within our open spaces and residential areas.

"Operation Brookdale is a Merseyside Police operation set up to target those involved in such activity.

"Members of the public can report the locations of stolen motorbikes or those used illegally and anti socially to @MerPolCC, 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously.

"Always call 999 in an emergency."
