A LITTLE SUTTON superstar has stepped up magnificently to her fundraising feat.
Mia, 11, is not far from completing a One Million Step Challenge in aid of Diabetes UK.
Proud mum Hannah Kellett said Mia had set herself a £120 target, but she had smashed that and has now raised over £900.
Mia began the one million steps on June 1. With just a few days to go before the challenge ends on September 30, Mia has less than 40,000 steps remaining.
Explaining why Mia took on the fundraising feat, Hannah said: "Mia decided to take on this challenge during lockdown as a challenge for herself as well as to raise some money.
"She chose this charity as her late nan had diabetes – she never got to meet her unfortunately – her grandad in France has been diagnosed with diabetes and one of our closest friends has suffered from diabetes all of her life which eventually took her sight and has lead to two transplants also.
"We are really proud of Mia doing this challenge. Her original target was £120...we never expected to have so many generous donations!
"We didn't realise how tough it would actually be. We just thought it would be nice to recognise her after having had such a sad end to primary school and still plodding on in between starting a new high school – she started at Wirral Grammar in September and left Woodlands Primary."
