A THIRTY-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with causing serious injury to two people by dangerous driving in connection with a crash in Parr.

The crash on Fleet Lane, Parr happened at 12.35am on Saturday, January 4 this year.

Police were called to Derbyshire Hill Road to reports of a silver Audi A3 driving at speed.

The vehicle allegedly failed to stop for officers and, following a short pursuit, crashed with street furniture and then a tree on Fleet Lane. The driver and two passengers were taken to hospital.

Both passengers sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver was detained following treatment.

Damaged trees and car parts could be seen on the roadside after the crash off Fleet Lane, a short distance from the junction with Concourse Way.

Andrew Gavin, of Ashtons Green Drive, Parr has been charged with several offences in connection with the crash.

The 30-year-old has been charged with two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous, one to a woman and one to a man.

He is also charged with dangerous driving; driving without a licence; driving without insurance; using vehicle without a valid test certificate and failing to provide a specimen analysis.

Gavin is also charged with fraudulent use of a vehicle trade plate and with possession of cocaine.

The 30-year-old is due to appear at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, September 23) to issue pleas to the charges.
