HERE are five cases which have been heard recently at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

  • A NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD man has been sentenced for driving with drugs in his system.

Daniel Wale, of Holt Avenue, Billinge, pleaded guilty to driving a Nissan Micra with Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, the main ingredient of cannabis, in his blood.

Wale drove the car with the drugs in his system on London Fields, Billinge on October 22, 2019.

The 19-year-old was fined £80, made to pay a £32 surcharge to victim services and £85 in costs to the CPS, making a total of £197.

He was also banned from driving for four months.

  • A MAN who was caught drink driving has been disqualified from the road for 12 months.

James Chelton, of Bradlegh Road, Newton-le-Willows, pleaded guilty to driving a BMW with 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, in excess of the legal limit.

Chelton, 20, drove the vehicle while over the alcohol limit on Darent Road, Haydock on March 15 this year.

He was fined £300, made to pay a £32 surcharge to victim services and £85 in costs to the CPS, making a total of £417.

He was banned from driving for 12 months, which can be reduced by 91 days if, by March 28, 2021, Chelton completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

  • A WOMAN who got behind the wheel while more than three times over the legal alcohol limit has been made to do unpaid work.

Sarah Jane Lyon, of Telford Drive, Sutton pleaded guilty to drink driving.

She drove a Peugeot 208 on Reginald Road, Sutton Leach on March 14 with 120 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath in her system, more than three times the limit of 35.

Lyon, 38, was given a community order and must do 160 hours of unpaid work.

She was made to pay a £95 surcharge to victim services and £85 in CPS costs, making £180.

Lyon was banned from driving for 29 months, to be reduced by 240 days if, by June 17, 2022, completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

A court document says the defendant's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing sentence and credit was given for the service to the community in her work and consideration that the work will be more difficult without a licence. It added that she showed genuine remorse.

  • A MAN who drove with cocaine in his system has been fined and disqualified from having a licence for 14 months.

Barry Michael Westall, of Columbia Road, Prescot drove a vehicle on St Helens Road, Eccleston Park on November 1, 2019, with benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine in his blood.

Westall, 37, pleaded guilty and was fined £400 and made to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in CPS costs, making a total of £517.

He was disqualifies from driving for 14 months.

  • A TWENTY-SEVEN-YEAR-OLD man was sentenced after admitting to drink driving.

Thomas James Roughley, of Mill Lane, Sutton Leach, drove a Kia in Liverpool on March 14 with 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath in his system, more than twice the legal limit.

Roughley was fined £380, made to pay a £32 victim surcharge and £85 in CPS costs, making a total of £497.

He was disqualified from driving for 17 months, to be reduced by 130 days if, by July 20, 2021, he has completed a course approved by the Secretary of State.
