A MAN has denied assaulting a woman and racially aggravating threatening behaviour at a chip shop.

Barry Jones, of Meadowcroft, Sutton, appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court.

Jones, 52, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault by beating of a woman at Sea Breeze Fish Bar on Mill Lane, Sutton Leach on February 8 this year.

Jones also pleaded not guilty to a charge of racially aggravated threatening words or behaviour at the premises.

The 52-year-old also denied a charge of being drunk and disorderly at the fish bar.

Jones has been remanded on unconditional bail until his next scheduled court appearance for trial.

The 52-year-old is due to next appear at Sefton Magistrates' Court for trial on December 4.
