A TWENTY-EIGHT-YEAR-OLD man accused of arming himself with a tree branch in St Helens town centre and of assault will face a Crown Court trial.
Ebrahem El Shebane, of Brunswick Road, Newton-le-Willows pleaded not guilty to two charges at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates’ Court.
Shebane is charged with having with him in a public place on Ormskirk Street an offensive weapon, namely a tree branch on Tuesday, February 25 this year.
The 28-year-old is also charged with an assault by beating of a man on the same date.
Shebane denied both charges in court.

The case was sent to Liverpool Crown Court where Shebane will next appear on Thursday, September 24.
Shebane was granted unconditional bail until then.
