SOME households in Prescot lost their water supply this morning due to a "sudden surge in use by someone in the area", United Utilities has said.
It was reported there was poor water pressure or no water at all at some properties in the Prescot area this morning (Wednesday, September 16).
Supplies have since returned and United Utilities says there were no engineering issues which caused the issue.
A spokesperson said a "sudden surge in use" by someone in the area was most likely the cause.
A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “This morning, some of our customers in Prescot called to say their water pressure was low or they had no water at all.
“While our engineers were investigating, water supplies suddenly returned.
“There does not appear to be a problem with our equipment in the area, so the most likely cause was a sudden surge in water use by someone in the area.”
Unitied Utilities had issued a statement this morning saying they had sent engineers to investigate the matter.
