A MAN is set to face a murder trial in November into the death of mum-of-one.
Beautician Melissa Belshaw, 32, was attacked in Upholland Road, Billinge, on May 20 and died from her injuries.
Police said her 13-year-old daughter rang the emergency services to raise the alarm.
Two men tried to stop the attack and one, in his 40s, was taken to hospital after being stabbed.
Detectives also believe that a third man also intervened and assisted in getting the young girl out of the house and to safety.
However, Melissa was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics
Andrew Wadsworth, 36, of Cranfield Road, Wigan, appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday.
A trial is set to take place in the week commencing November 16 at Manchester Crown Court.
