AN independent cafe-bar is hoping to breathe new life into Barons Quay and build a strong connection with the community.

BEAR opened its doors with a soft launch event on Wednesday before opening to the public on Friday, September 11.

It is the brand's sixth opening across the country in four years, following branches in Uttoxeter, Derby, Stone and London.

Sam Nowzady, store manager, told the Guardian: "Our purpose is to serve the community and to work with the community closely – we are here for them.

"I am looking forward to know the local community, and to know the regulars so that when they come in their drink is there ready on the table for them.

"We are really looking forward to have that relationship with the people – that would be amazing."

Northwich already has plenty of coffee shops in town, but BEAR promises to offer more than the usual high street names.

Coffee lovers can experience a variety of different types, while there are also beers, gins and cocktails on the menu, and food options range from pancake breakfasts to evening tacos.

Northwich Guardian:

An exciting array of options are on the menu behind the bar

"We are not just another coffee shop on the high street," Sam said.

"We have speciality coffee, we are really environmentally friendly, we have got a good option of food including for vegans and people people with allergies.

"It's going to be a good destination for people to come down to day or night."

With no immediate plans to expand the company further, the BEAR team is pouring all of its energy into making the Barons Quay branch a go-to destination close to Odeon and Barons Quay Social.

"We tried to open in April but we were delayed because of Covid-19," added Sam.

"Hopefully now this part of town will get more footfall, and we can give the people of Northwich an extra option in terms of when they are going out – for a coffee, fresh food and stuff like that."
