A SHOP fire that broke out in the early hours may have been started deliberately, police have confirmed.
Firefighters were called to Co-op on West End Road, Haydock shortly before 3.25am today Monday, September 7.
On arrival crews found a quantity of waste on fire in the rear yard of the shop.
The fire caused damage to an air conditioning unit.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
The fire is being treated as "suspected malicious ignition" and CCTV enquiries have been carried out.
Fire crews left the scene at 5.53am.
