A TWENTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD man who crashed a stolen car during a police chase has appeared in court.

Police pursued the stolen Ford Focus crashed during an early hours police chase on Thursday, August 13.

The chase took place along Horace Street, Cambridge Road, Kitchener Street, Boundary Road, Knowsley Road, Dunriding Lane and Laurel Road.

The car eventually crashed and a man attempted to make off but was detained.

Zach Dowling, 23, of Winter Grove, Parr was charged with aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving; driving with no insurance and failing to provide a blood specimen to officers.

Dowling appeared at Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court where he pleaded guilty to the three charges.

The case has been sent to Liverpool Crown Court, where Dowling will face a judge for sentencing.

Dowling has been given unconditional bail until his next hearing, scheduled for Friday, September 11.

The 23-year-old has been given an interim disqualification from driving until the case has been dealt with.
