EMERGENCY services were called after a car crashed into a lamppost this morning (Thursday, August 13).

Police, the fire and rescue service and ambulance attended Dunriding Lane, Eccleston at around 10.45am.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to Dunriding Lane shortly before 10:40am following reports a grey Vauxhall Astra had collided with a lamppost." 

The collision happened on the part of road near to Knowsley Road.

A Merseyside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman added: "We had a call at 10.44am and were on scene at 10.50am, we sent one engine.

"It was a single-vehicle road traffic collision, the vehicles was on all four wheels when we arrived.

"The occupants had already got out before we arrived.

"Ambulance assessed one of the people as a precaution."
